The Atrium hall at Valtra’s Suolahti factory, where tractors had been kept for customer test drives, was converted to a personnel restaurant and office premises in late 2005. A separate wooden hall was built for test drive tractors by the test drive track, next to the Lappish ‘Kota’. The new personnel restaurant started serving meals in 2006.

The product development laboratory in Tourula had too little space and required a technology upgrade. It therefore made sense to concentrate all operations at the Suolahti site. The construction of 4,000 square metres of new office and laboratory premises in the plant area was completed in summer 2006 and proved crucial for the development of new-generation transmissions. Product development was the last Valtra operation to be relocated from Tourula to Suolahti.

The year 2009 was the 40th anniversary of Valmet Tractors' assembly plant in Suolahti, inaugurated in autumn 1969. According to local wisdom, the relocation from Jyväskylä had lasted just 37 years! This referred to the removal of the last departments from Tourula to Suolahti in August 2006.
