2011 Limited serial production of biogas tractors

Valtra introduced its T133 biogas model in 2011. A couple of years later, Valtra began limited serial production of the N101 biogas model.

Biogas is well suited to tractors, as it can be produced on farms from plants or manure. Valtra’s biogas tractors are dual fuel, meaning they can run on biogas or diesel. Even when running on biogas, a tiny amount of diesel is injected into the cylinders to ignite the gas under compression. Using biogas as a fuel has no effect on the tractor’s power output, cold-start ability, implements or operability.

Valtra and its predecessor Valmet have a long tradition of exploring alternative fuel solutions, both in Finland and Brazil. These include alcohol in Brazil and woodchips in Finland. Biodiesel and biogas are both fully renewable fuels.
